Reestablishing Your Real Estate License and Reciprocity in Idaho
The Idaho Real Estate Commission requires real estate agents to complete 18 hours of Continuing Education courses to renew their licenses. You can renew your license up to 90 days before its expiration date.
Late renewals are only accepted with a $25 late renewal fee (you may also owe additional fees if you’ve been practicing with an expired license).
Reciprocity in Idaho
It’s important to note that Idaho does not have any reciprocal real estate license agreements with other states in the country. However, if you are actively licensed as a real estate agent in another state, you qualify to have the national portion of the Idaho licensing exam waived.
To waive this part of the exam, request a certified license history from your state and submit it to the Idaho Real Estate Commission with the Exam Waiver Request Form.2
Remember that certified license histories are relevant for six months from the date they were issued or the license expiration date, whichever comes first. You must also submit the waiver before you schedule your state exam.
